Kyosho SX026 Slipper Clutch Plate Adapter Scorpion XXL

This is the slipper clutch plate adapter for the Kyosho Scorpion XXL.

A slipper clutch sits in the drivetrain and is designed to slip under sudden load rather than transmitting the full shock through the gears. That protects the transmission when the car lands from a jump with the wheels spinning, and it also limits how violently power reaches the ground on a hard launch, which can actually improve acceleration on a loose surface by preventing wheelspin.

The adapter is what carries the friction plates and connects them to the spur gear. It has to hold everything in exact alignment while the assembly slips against itself, so it takes both rotational load and the clamping force of the slipper spring. Wear here lets the plates sit unevenly, which makes the slipper grab and release unpredictably instead of slipping smoothly, and an inconsistent slipper is worse than none at all because you cannot predict how the car will behave.

This is the genuine Kyosho part for the 1/7 scale Scorpion XXL. Note it does not fit the smaller vintage Scorpion or Turbo Scorpion.
