Kyosho SX006 Servo Saver Set Scorpion XXL

This is the servo saver set for the Kyosho Scorpion XXL.

A servo saver sits between the steering servo and the linkage and is designed to give slightly under a sharp impact, so the shock load is absorbed there rather than stripping the gears inside your servo. On a 1/7 scale buggy that protection matters, because the wheels are large and heavy and a front tire catching a rut or a kerb at speed delivers a substantial jolt straight back down the steering line.

The trade-off is that a saver soft enough to protect the servo also introduces a small amount of vagueness in steering feel, which is why the preload is adjustable and worth setting deliberately rather than leaving as found.

Savers wear. The spring loses tension and the pivot surfaces open up, and once that happens the steering stops returning to the same centre point. That shows as a car that pulls slightly and needs constant trim correction, which is a frustrating fault because it feels like a radio problem.

Supplied as a complete set, so it rebuilds the assembly rather than patching it.
