Kyosho SX061 Aluminum Servo Horn Scorpion XXL

This is the aluminum servo horn for the Kyosho Scorpion XXL VE.

The servo horn bolts to the servo output spline and converts its rotation into the push and pull that moves the steering linkage. It sits at the very start of the steering chain, which means any flex or slop in it is multiplied through everything downstream.

That is why aluminum matters here. A plastic horn deflects under the loads a large-scale car generates, and on a 1/7 buggy with big heavy tires those loads are considerable, particularly when steering while stationary or crawling. The result is steering that feels soft and imprecise off centre. Aluminum removes that deflection, and it will not strip its spline the way a worn plastic horn eventually does, which is the failure that leaves you with no steering at all mid-run.

Horn length also matters as a setup item, since it determines how much linkage travel you get for a given amount of servo rotation and therefore your total steering throw. Kyosho lists this as a spare part for the Scorpion XXL VE.
